MCA Board Meeting

Date: 3/17/26

Present: Jeff Archibald, Chris Martin, Rob Koning, JC Woodward, Mark Meany, Mick Foot, Kim Smith 

Action Items

Chris:

• Meeting with Nick Sintros this week to discuss website and change of physical address for the MCA 

• Begin to build website - goal is by next board meeting on 5/12/26

• Explore donation options (e.g. Venmo, credit card, etc.)

Jeff:

• Complete LUA form for National Grid

Rob:

• Explore Casino grant

• Next meeting reservation at Co-Op (6:20 - 5/12/26)

JC: 

• Create a printable file for Staples to use for making a poster for the RR Cut Kiosk (Chris suggests using Canva for poster making)

• Meet with Jim Lagee to finalize Bear’s Den work plan 

Kim:

• Explore Access Fund grant

• Explore General Liability insurance

Mick:

• Will reach to Michelle Gafney regarding continued interest in being on the board

• Write up and distribute notes to MCA Google Drive and website

Meeting notes

Review of new MCA website

• Chris brought in a paper copy of the basics of the future site

  • Questions about future changes to website

  • Chris noted that WordPress is free (program used to build website)

• Discussion around hosting:

  • Chris will build it on the back end of his website

  • Once this is completed, we can migrate it to another website of our choosing

  • Chris will meet with Nick this Thursday (3/19/26) to discuss

• Discussion about the complexity of the website

  • Timeline is unclear, though Chris will likely have a better sense of this once he gets rolling (probably won’t start until after the end of March)

• Discussion about an account that people can donate money through

  • Currently have a PayPal account, but some discussion about other options

  • Zeffy - most people weren’t into

  • Venmo - no transaction fee as long as they donate as a “friend”

  • Chris will look into this further

  • Brief discussion 

Fall Mountain

• Craig Kimball (National Grid Right of Way agent) emailed Jeff yesterday (3/16/26) regarding completing the Land Use Application (LUA) form. He is ready to submit the proposal once we complete this next step.

• Need an appropriate “Applicant name.” Decided on Jeff being the applicant on behalf of MCA

• Completing the LUA is for internal approval for National Grid. Will still need to complete the rest of the MOU process after this goes through NG internal process.

• Also need a physical address. Rob agreed to use his address: 250 Summit Road, Keene NH 03431

• Currently MCA uses Nick Sintros’ address, though apparently it initially goes to KSC, who then forwards it to Nick’s address. Chris is meeting with Nick this week and will discuss the change of address

Discussion regarding grant from Access Fund

• Would need a project that requires money

• Possibilities:

  • Kiosk for Fall Mountain if this is approved

  • Re-install walkway at base of FM trail

  • Installing trail on north side of Hewe’s Hill (cribbing, etc.)

  • Railroad cut kiosk needs updating. Possibly just use the current setup, but update the materials inside (large MCA poster, etc.) (Staples says about $50 for a large yet-to-be-designed poster)

Bear’s Den

• Jim Legee contacted JC about needed projects at Bear’s Den

• JC added this information to the work plan and it was approved

• Andy Crowley is the State Park Volunteer Coordinator
